RefHP® (Serie 29000) | Copper
System description
The fittings "SANHA® RefHP®" (series 29000) comprise high-pressure solder fittings for copper-iron pipes for use in high-pressure installations such as CO2 cooling systems.
The fittings are made of copper-iron (CuFe2P, CW107C) and meet all quality requirements of the German "VdTÜV material sheet 567" as well as the AD 2000 data sheet W 6/2 and comply with various other certifications such as UL.
In air-conditioning and cooling technology, especially in commercial or industrial cooling systems, environmentally friendly solutions are becoming more and more important. Optimal results are expected above all by an increase in efficiency and the use of ecologically (less) harmless refrigerants such as CO2 (R744). These refrigerants are used primarily in the transcritical range with higher operating pressures. Therefore, the use of CO2 leads to higher operating pressures of up to 130 bar in some cases - and at these pressures there is a correspondingly high risk to employees' safety as well as the continuous function of the piping system and the environment.
Products
Specifically designed for high pressure operations
SANHA® RefHP® high-pressure fittings have been specially designed for such operating pressures on the basis of our decades of experience in the field of solder and end feed fittings.
They are ideally suited for piping in cooling systems with a maximum permissible operating pressure of up to 130 bar, a minimum temperature of -196 °C and a maximum temperature of 150 °C, where fluids of group 2 according to the European Pressure Equipment Directive (EPD 97/23/EC) are used.
All dimensions and tolerances for lap joints comply with EN 14276-1, Annex B with pipes according to EN 378-2 and EN 14276-2.
Practical tip for installing
Fittings and pipes must be joined with silver brazing alloy with at least 2 % Ag. We also recommend the use of a flux FH 10 according to EN 1045 for soldering with copper alloys such as brass.
The installation must be carried out in compliance with all relevant technical rules and regulations. In particular, EN 378-2 "Refrigeration systems and heat pumps" must be followed in detail.
Practical: SANHA® RefHP® high-pressure fittings are marked with the engraving "SA CuFe" as well as the respective dimension. Thanks to their iron content, they can be easily distinguished from "normal" copper fittings with a simple neodymium magnet.

General advantages of our high pressure solder fittings
- Ideal for use in high-pressure applications such as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, especially for CO2 systems
- Suitable for pressures of 90 and even up to 130 bar!
- RefHP® fittings are compatible with all four CuFe pipe types available on the market, offering a high degree of flexibility:
- KME – CL12
- HALCOR – TALOS XS
- Mueller - XHP
- Wieland K65
- SANHA® has more than 50 years of experience in the production of solder fittings and maintains very close manufacturing tolerances
- Highest European quality through production at our own plant in Ternat, Belgium
- Wide range of fittings up to 2 5/8” in copper-iron
- Optimum cleaning of the fittings results in a carbon value of <0.5 mg C/dm². This is decisive for the quality of the soldered connection as carbon residues can lead to pitting corrosion at higher soldering temperatures
- Easy recognition before and after installation: Pipes and fittings are clearly marked so that all components can be identified at a glance. In addition, the material is slightly magnetic and can be easily distinguished from copper using a neodymium magnet – a very practical advantage!
- Corrosion-proof material
- The highly stable CuFe2P ensures easy and cost-effective installation
- Excellent machining properties, no toxic chemical elements
- Makes a significant contribution to an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly cooling system:
- Compared to conventional systems, as much as 25 % energy can be saved in transcritical CO2 systems!
- This is particularly important for supermarkets, where cooling systems operate 24/7
- Suitable for installation under the European Pressure Equipment Directive
- Transition fittings available in metric sizes
Advantages of copper-iron over TIG welding of stainless steel
Cost savings through time savings:
- Copper-iron can be brazed and this technique is much simpler than TIG welding
- Brazing is 2.5x faster than TIG welding
Cost savings through lower labour costs:
- TIG welders command higher hourly rates than employees who can solder/braze
- Because of the faster technique of soldering, the total hourly labour cost will be much lower
Cost savings through reduction of general costs:
- TIG welders are required to undertake an annual training that is expensive and time consuming
- Many companies rely on subcontractors for TIG welding as they do not have any employees themselves. This cost is therefore eliminated
Advantages of copper-iron over brass
- Brass has to be heated more slowly and carefully: Time savings up to 25 %
- Brass must be soldered with a higher silver content (lower working point) which is more expensive: CuFe = 2-5 % silver, Brass = 15 % silver
